OCC: Monotype Printing Workshop with John Tochko
March 13 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 pm$35.00
This workshop focuses on creating unique painterly prints using watersoluble printing inks and plexiglass sheets as the printing surface. Participants will learn to use rollers and brushes to spread inks onto surfaces. Simple tools such as Q-tips, mat board, tissues and sponges will be used to create tone and images on the plate. Using a baren or a soup spoon to rub the back of the printmaking paper, a single print will be created. Participants will investigate the effects of adding textured materials, cutouts, and stencils to the printing surface.
The workshop will include a review of monotypes in the history of art, and demonstrations of various image-making techniques.
The cost of the workshop is $35: all supplies will be provided and participants will create their own monotypes. Besides their own artwork, they will also take home a plexiglass printing plate, extra paper and other supplies to continue their exploration of monotyping techniques at home.
This class is limited to 12 students, so sign up quickly! To register, please call 410-226-5904 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. The class will be three hours, and participants are encouraged to bring lunch for additional studio time.
